When Can I Use the Scilabub Cryogenic Gloves?
The Cryogenic Waterproof Gloves are designed for the extreme cold. Applications where these gloves are recommended include:
Please note that these gloves are designed for handling extremely cold materials. We wouldn't recommend them for simple, cold outdoor work. However, if your work means that you have to handle items that are far below freezing, then these gloves are ideal.
What Temperatures Can These Gloves Protect Against?
These gloves are designed for people who work with materials that are below freezing. This can include cryogenics, dry ice handling, bottle handling and scientific work. They are most suitable when handling solid materials that are typically between -120°C and -190°C.
What Are the Main Uses of the Frosters Range?
One of the main uses of the Frosters range is to protect against spills and splashes of cryogenic materials, including liquid nitrogen. This can occur when pouring, or just generally working with, ultra-cold cryogenic materials. Please note that these gloves are not suitable for immersion in liquid nitrogen.
How Waterproof Are the Frosters Cryogenic Gloves?
The Cryogenic Gloves are designed to offer superb insulation, with their synthetic fibre outer layer offering total water resistance. This is particularly ideal for cryogenics and liquid nitrogen handling, as you will be expected to come into contact with extremely cold substances that may be in liquid form. If this is the case, then these gloves will completely protect your hands, wrists and fingers from injury.
See the Scilabub Gloves in Action
Scilabub Gloves are designed for handling items that have been submerged in liquid nitrogen. This includes in vaccine research, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson was seen visiting a vaccine research facility in September 2020. You can see scientists use Scilabub to protect their hands towards the end of the below video.
How Do The Frosters Cryogenic Gloves Work?
The Scilabub Gloves feature a special outer layer that is designed to resist water, ideal for handling freezing items that have been submerged in substances such as liquid nitrogen. The middle layer features a special polyolefin and polyester micro fibre that has twice the effectiveness of a normal thermal fibre. This then helps to minimise heat transfer without the material being too thick to handle materials.
What Does the Frosters Gloves Fit Feel Like?
The Frosters Gloves are designed to be comfortable, with a cotton interior coating that keeps the hands cosy and warm during use. The mid length design can protect the hands from external risks too, preventing debris from entering the gloves.
Are These Gloves Available in Different Lengths?

Will I Retain Dexterity in Freezing Conditions?
When handling freezing cold materials, it's important to maintain dexterity. These gloves are designed to stay flexible even when handling materials that are lower than -100°C.
