Protection Ratings and Safety Standards
EN 388: Mechanical Resistance
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 3 |
Cut Resistance | N/A |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 3 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level F |
EN 407: Heat-Resistance
EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Burning Resistance | N/A |
Contact Heat Resistance | Level 1 (100°C) |
Convective Heat Resistance | N/A |
Radiant Heat Resistance | N/A |
Resistance to Small Molten Splashes | N/A |
Resistance to Large Molten Splashes | N/A |

Level F Cut Resistance Rating

This incredible rating allows the user to handle metal, glass, blades and sharps without worrying about cuts, lacerations and incisions ruining your hands and causing serious injury.

Incredibly Tough Fabric
UCi Kutlass K9F-XC Cut-Resistant Gloves use thick cuts of leather to achieve an incredibly tough foundation. They have been awarded the maximum Level 4 tear-resistance rating because their foundation fabric doesn't split or rip like thinner options.
Their broad palms maximise grip strength and stability, making them great for heavy-duty handling applications in rough and ready environments like shipyards and ports.
Heat resistant to 100°C
As well as their incredible cut-resistance rating, UCi Leather Work Gloves also allow the user to safely handle heated material with a temperature not exceeding 100°C for up to 15 seconds. This protection is critical for mechanics and automotive professionals who are routinely responsible for removing, restoring and installing heated pipes, parts, engines and boilers.
Extended Wrist Cuff
UCi Kutlass K9F-XC measure 30cm from tip to cuff thanks to the inclusion of an extended wrist cuff that covers and protects more of the wrist and forearm. This is great if you work in heated or volatile environments where a trailing, uncovered forearm could easily come into contact with harmful material.
Reinforced Thumb Crotch
The thumb crotch is an inherently weak area on any pair of gloves. When you make a fist or flex your fingers, the fabric that makes up your gloves is put under stress.
A reinforced fabric thumb crotch bolsters this area with an additional layer of flexible fabric, preventing rips, tears and splits when you tighten your grip to handle equipment, tools and cargo.
Rough and Tough Leather Palms
UCi Kutlass K9F-XC Cut-Resistance Gloves use a split-leather face to improve grip strength and reinforce protection against lacerations and incisions when handling sharp material. Split leather is great for heavy-duty applications like construction and building because it's rugged and robust and doesn't degrade or split at the same rate as lighter leathers.
